Congratulations to Pittsburgh Football Club’s under 14 girls soccer team, Passion. Passion earned a Championship finish in the Dillsburg Dual Shootout Tournament.

Memorial Day Blue Gray Tournament 2011

PFC Passion played in the Blue Gray Tournament with sixteen other high quality teams. In the bracketing round, Passion won two games and tied one game to be placed in the top of three brackets. With two wins and one loss in the Championship Round, Passion achieved a third place in the top bracket of the tournament. Overall at the Blue Gray Tournament, Passion gave up 3 goals and scored 11 in the six games. Four of the six games were shutouts.

Coaches Bios:

Rand Warsaw- Rand has coached youth soccer for 15 years and has a "D" coaching License. Rand has played in numerous Pa West and indoor adult soccer leagues in age groups ranging from open to over 50 leagues. Rand is playing Pittsburgh Adult Coed Soccer League open age group over the summer

Rick Smith - Rick has a career in public education working with teens as a middle school principal. Rick has twenty years experience coaching youth sports from pre-K to high school levels and has coached youth soccer for 14 years. Rick is certified in First Aid and CPR.

Dan Ellis-For the past 13 years, Dan has coached youth travel soccer teams through u19. Dan has an “E” license, is a certified referee and is qualified as a referee assignor. Dan is a coach for the Canon McMillian School district. Dan is a member of NSCAA and the American Coaching Academy obtaining several coaching credits.

Still Smiling after running six miles

After three qualifying games, Passion was the #6 seed in the 1st Division Championship Round bracket. The girls started off with a 2-0 win against Eastern Soccer Club from Maryland on Saturday afternoon, but lost to the WSA Wildcat team from New Jersey 1-0 on Sunday morning on a penalty kick.

Facing elimination with a second loss, Passion won their next three games against Fusion FC From Eastern Pa, Capital Area Soccer Association from Central Pa, and North Carroll Scorpions from Maryland, to make it to the Championship game.

Playing with true grit and determination, Passion won 1-0 against the New Jersey WSA Wildcats to whom they lost earlier in the day. This win was their third straight game without a break, their fifth game of the day, and their ninth game in a thirty two hour period. Passion finished first out of the sixteen teams in the tournament giving up only three goals in nine games.
